Zamfara: Former Governor Matawalle's Ex-Local Government Caretaker Councillors Forum Distances Itself from Defection

 

The Ex-Local Government Caretaker Councillors Forum, whose members served under the former governor, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, now the Honourable Minister for Defence, has distanced itself from the alleged defection rumours that have since gone viral.

In a letter released by the forum and signed by its Secretary, Honourable Kabiru Ibrahim Gishiri Maradun, the forum stated clearly that the former local government councillors who left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are political loyalists of Distinguished Senator Abdul Aziz Yari, the Tinubu/Shettima campaign Director General, and not loyalists of the Honourable Minister for Defence, His Excellency, the former Governor of Zamfara State, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle.

At an emergency press briefing held today in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, the forum's Chairman, Honourable Shitu Abdullahi (Malancy) Shinkafi, dismissed the rumours already in circulation. He assured the general public, especially the APC family in Zamfara State, that all the councillors who served under His Excellency, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, remain loyal and committed, and are working towards the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal, and the APC aspirants across the 14 local government areas of the state.
