The beleaguered governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal Dare, blamed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Democratic Party (PDP) over the weekend for his political ordeal, despite the fact that the INEC was fully aware that the use of the IReV (INEC Result Viewing Portal), which it had introduced, did not and could not come close to complying with the Electrical Act's legal requirements.
The embattled governor spoke to his cabinet members yesterday, explaining that the actions taken were a result of the PDP' impatience and President Muhammadu Buhari's cabals, which included former AGF Abubakar Malami,Tunde Sabiu and Abdulrasheed Bawa alongside others, trying to unseat the APC in the state. He further stated that if INEC had conducted the rescheduled election in Birnin Magaji Local government we would have emerged winners with even 500 votes, considering that the former governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, had won his reelection with 344 votes.
Governor Dauda also bemoaned to his cabinet colleagues, saying, "We have to prepare t o accept the supreme court's ruling, as it was the case in Osun state with Oyetola and Ademola Adeleke having the same election case, now that the law does not recognize extracting results from Saver."am
