As the 2027 general elections draw closer, underground maneuvers orchestrated by the Senator representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Abdul Aziz Yari Abubakar, have begun to surface. This follows a fresh court case filed against the party, challenging the outcome of the just concluded party primaries in Zamfara North Senatorial Zone by Honourable Sani Abdullahi (Wamban Shinkafi), a close political ally of Senator Yari.
This troubling development stems from the refusal of Zamfara State APC stakeholders to allow Senator Yari to impose candidates who lack the acceptance and support of the people of Zamfara.
A credible source from within Senator Yari's political camp, who pleaded for anonymity, disclosed that: "I can tell you for free that Senator Yari has provided a substantial sum of money to Abdullahi Sani (Wamban Shinkafi) to initiate court litigation against the party, with the intent of weakening the APC and creating an enabling environment for opposition parties to gain ground in the 2027 general elections."
In the same vein, several political observers in Zamfara State have called on the National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe, and the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC to place Senator Abdul Aziz Yari under close and continuous monitoring, so as to prevent a recurrence of the 2019 incident in which the APC lost to the opposition party in Zamfara State.
It was further gathered from reliable sources that Senator Yari has broadened his political agenda by sponsoring opposition aspirants across several states, in a bid to actualize his 2031 presidential ambition. States particularly identified in this regard include Zamfara, Kano, Kaduna, Kebbi, and Gombe.
The controversial Senator has reportedly been making deliberate preparations to exact revenge against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for denying him the position of Senate President, through calculated anti-party activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
