Former Governor of Zamfara Abdulaziz Yari has expressed shock that University dons had allowed themselves to be used in compromising the 2023 election in Zamfara.
Yari who stated this on Sunday when he received the executives of the APC in Zamfara state who paid him a Sallah homage, explained that it was unfortunate that, university lecturers brought themselves too low to be allowed to be used as political stooges in the hands of desperate politicians.
“I was warned against the grand plan by the PDP to use university lecturers in rigging Zamfara election, but I doubted it because everybody knew that people from university are known for integrity, but eventually the allegation became a reality”.
“If University dons can compromise their integrity for some stipends from politicians, then what confidence are we going to have that they can help in building the character of our children and build them to become future leaders”.
He called on the INEC to review their mode of engagement with the University staff, hence their integrity in connection to the conduct of the election in Nigeria is at stake.
