Governor Matawalle visits CBN, secures developmental interventions for Zamfara

 

 

 

 

The Executive Governor of Zamfara state, Hon. (Dr) Bello Mohammed Matawalle, MON, FSESN, (Shattiman Sokoto) has vowed to secure five huge interventions from the Central Bank of Nigeria for the socio-economic development of Zamfara State.

Hon. (Dr) Bello Matawalle who thought it dutiful as a responsible leader, took his time out of numerous schedules to personally meet for a closed-door meeting with the Central Bank Governor Mr Godwin Emefiele in an effort to bring succour to salvage people of the State from shackles of socio-economic problems in the society.

Shortly after their closed-door meeting, a round table discussion was immediately held between Governor Matawalle and a team of expert Directors assigned by the CBN Governor in order to quickly attend to all the requests that Governor Matawalle put before the CBN Governor.

Summarizing their discussion with the CBN Governor, Governor Matawalle reiterated that his visit was a passionate determination he has in a quest for solutions to myriad socio-economic problems that formed part of the triggers of insecurity and criminality in society. He said he has requested the CBN Governor to use his good office to include Zamfara in the various developmental programmes of the Bank such as 100 for 100, training of at least 10,000 people in the NIRSAL Programme, and intervening in the State initiated programmes like the Ruga project which can help boost livestock production for economic development.

Similarly, Governor Matawalle identified other areas such as the establishment of a “Center of Excellence” for the Zamfara State University and providing people with the COVID-19 loan and Anchor Borrowers support.

While responding, the CBN Governor commended Governor Bello Matawalle for his foresight in pursuing windows that will provide succour to the people of Zamfara State.

The CBN Governor promised to assist the State with mass support to help its business communities and farmers through the numerous programmes run by the CBN. This according to him is part of the initiatives of the current President’s administration to revitalized small, medium and large-scale industries in various states across the nation.

Before his departure from the CBN premises, Governor Matawalle had already mandated the relevant commissioners to immediately submit a compiled list of beneficiaries from these laudable programmes.
