Group Declares Zamfara Governor ‘North’s Peace Icon’

A group, the Arewa Exemplary Leadership Forum (AELF) has declared Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mohammed Matawalle as the Peace Icon of Northerners Nigeria for his interventions on kidnapping and banditry in the region.
In a media release signed by Chairman of the group, Comrade Ibrahim Isa, the Forum said “Governor Matawalle is the only Northern governor who is using a special peace strategy for rescuing kidnapped students not only in Zamfara but also other parts of Northern Nigeria”.
The group also explained that the governor’s “unbeatable patience and adopting the democratic tool of dialogue is quite inspiring”.
The AELF, in the statement  described the governor’s strategy as unique and urged his colleagues, especially in the Northwest , currently ravaged by protracted banditry challenge, to borrow a leaf from him.
The statement then revealed: “No governor has paid enough attention to the security challenges, especially kidnapping and banditry, like Governor Matawalle.We urge him to stick to his guns, and sustain the tempo of his activities”.
