In the spirit of honesty and accountability, I wish to bring to the attention of His Excellency, Dr. Dauda Lawal, Executive Governor of Zamfara State, a troubling development at Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara, an institution I served diligently for over 15 years.
Under the current leadership of the Polytechnic, I, along with other individuals perceived as loyalists of Matawalle and Yari; all of them members of the APC, who are also teeming numerous residents within the Colony community of the Bakalori Irrigation Scheme in Talata Mafara, are being forcefully ejected. This action raises serious concerns about the politicization of an academic environment that should remain neutral, inclusive, and just.
The management of the Polytechnic is in Court with us insisting that the court should eject residents of the place who are not staff of the Polytechnic.
The Polytechnic has from the onset failed to even establish rightful ownership of the place. They claim of purchasing it from Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority (SRRBDA), however, documented evidences showed that they have requested refund from the Rima Authority and they were duly refunded.
The case has been adjourned for hearing in the next two weeks
