Nigeria Strengthens Global Defence Ties, Hon Minister Bello Matawalle Leads Strategic Engagements at IDEF 2025 in Turkey.

 




The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, MON, led Nigeria’s delegation to the 17th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF 2025) in Istanbul, Turkey, a premier global forum for military innovation involving over 900 Turkish firms and 400 international defense companies from 44 countries.


The Nigerian delegation visited Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi (MKE), Turkey’s state-owned defense manufacturer, where they were received by CEO Ilhami Keleş. The visit focused on exploring MKE’s advanced technologies and production capabilities in ammunition and strategic defense systems, aimed at enhancing self-reliance and operational readiness.


Dr. Matawalle also held strategic meetings with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence Industry, Vugar Mustafayev, and Turkey’s Deputy Minister of National Defence, Musa Heybet, discussing opportunities for military-technical cooperation, defense manufacturing, and technology exchange.


Additionally, the Minister met with Dr. Mehmet Ali Aydınlar, President of Acıbadem Hospital, one of Turkey’s top medical institutions, to discuss advanced medical services for defense and civilian use.


Accompanied by top defense officials, Dr. Matawalle participated in the exhibition’s opening ceremony attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and toured international booths to explore global defense innovations and strengthen Nigeria’s international defense partnerships.
