HASHEEM GAMBO KUTA CRITICIZES ZAMFARA STATE GOVERNMENT FOR NEGLECTING LATE PROF.ROKO.

I wish to express my deep disappointment with the Zamfara State Government over its inability to support the late Prof. Roko before his death.

After seeing the recent, controversial gesture of donating relief food items to Prof. Roko’s family, I am compelled to ask: where was this concern when he was alive and desperately needed assistance? The Zamfara State Government failed to support one of its most illustrious sons during his most critical moment.

This is a total failure of responsibility and empathy. Despite Prof. Roko publicly appealing for help before his death and stating that he needed ₦13 million for surgery, the government did nothing. This is heartbreaking.

I want to commend Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State for his donation of over ₦5 million towards Prof. Roko's medical treatment. Governor Abba Kabir demonstrated true compassion and showed that he values the intellectual contributions of our scholars.

If a governor from another state could contribute ₦5 million, what then stopped Zamfara State from saving the life of its own son?

Prof. Roko was not just any academic; he was one of the most respected professors in Northern Nigeria and the entire North-West. The failure of Zamfara State to stand by him in his time of need reflects a deep lack of regard for the intellectual heritage of the state.
