Let me start this press statement with a proverb by a prominent scholar and a great leader of thoughts of blessed memory; John C. Maxwell, who expressed and shared his thoughts.
" Lead with purpose, follow with passion."
John C. Maxwell is of the belief that "As a leader, it is imperative that you demonstrate a clear direction and driving force." He said "It’s not just about the destination but also the enthusiasm and commitment you bring to the journey. " Your passion will inspire others to follow you."
For Gov Dauda Lawal, the opposite is the case. He neither has a purpose nor follows his leadership with passion, especially considering his slogan and campaign promises to the people of Zamfara state, among which includes the eradication of armed banditry within two weeks of his government and "to rescue Zamfara". Instead of focusing on the fulfilment of these slogan and campaign promises, he focuses on a fruitless fight against his predecessor, Hon Bello Matawallen Maradun MON, who is now the current minister of state for defence, a key and strategic position, the gov should have used in achieving the fundamental goals of his government which he said was to end banditry within two weeks and to rescue Zamfara, but without any success as he had abandoned the idea of fighting the bandits and rescuing the state, but rather engages in wasteful foreign trips without any benefits to the people of the state.
To cover up his shane and failure in this regard, Gov Dauda kept on criticising the minister and the Nigerian military after refusing to cooperate with any of the two (Ministry of Defence and the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa ) without an iota of the knowledge of how the military operations are being organised and conducted. It will be too soon for Nigerians and indeed the whole world to forget when the military gave the Zamfara Gov a staggering warning for his interference with their operations, since he was ignorant of their assignments and refused to cooperate with them. Instead, he battling to convince the general public that he hasn't soldiers nor police to fight the bandits.
When the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu gave command for the Command and Control Centre to relocate to Sokoto with a view to waging onslaught campaign against the dreaded bandits in the north-west, under the leadership of the minister of state for defense, Bello Matawalle, the Zamfara Gov Dauda Lawal was first to condemned the president's directive, describing the initiative by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a joke and drama.
Now that the military under the able leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, being supervised by the Hon Minister of state for Defence Hon Bello Matawallen Maradun MON to comply with the president's directive and command, they came out victorious in the special onslaught operations, Gov Dauda Lawal hurriedly came out following media platforms to claim credit. It is highly shameful and astonishing for any right thinking person to hear Dauda Lawal saying that the military neutralised the most dangerous Bandits kingpin Halilu Buzu Sububu in conjunction with the Zamfara state Community Protection Guards. As if that is not enough, the Gov had the audacity to announce to the viewers of his interviews that Bello Turji would soon be killed. This gross violation of military operations plans is not only sabotage to the operations but rather an opposition to the fight against the bandits.
Your outings in person as a Gov on the campaign of columny against your predecessor Bello Matawalle have clearly demonstrated your inseriousness in the leadership of the state and the fight against the bandits terrorising the state and the region. Your overzealousness and desperation to pass media judgement against the former governor to indict him at all cost, leading you to castigating the EFCC of which you were once a guest, when the former governor bailed you, now accusing the agency of wrong doing and doubting its capacity for not taking Matawalle to prison, as well casting doubt on the credibility of our galant, sincere and honest security agencies who investigated and clear the former governor before he was finally confirmed by our distinguished elders who were validly and creditably elected to represent us at the Red Chamber, some of them former governors for eight years, but accusing them of not knowing what they are doing.
Not only that, the level of your hatrate against the former governor had now extended to his family. Imagine how a whole governor who was accidentally elected into power, though, can decend so low, so cheap to envying the children of the former governor. This is shameful enough for not only the governor but the entire people of Zamfara state to have him as governor. Those kids have nothing to do with you. They are God-given, and you should be proud of them as you may not know where and when you or your own children and relatives will meet with them as leaders of tomorrow.
It is embarrassing for a Gov to be attacking personality rather than issues. Enough is enough for a wise. Bello Matawalle has served Zamfara state diligently with all sense of honesty and justice. He left Zamfara state better than he mate it as governor, but now worst case scenario. Face your failures and leave the minister alone to execute his mandate of assisting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to deliver his government's commitment to securing the lives and property of the citenery.
