Fight against banditry: APC forum hails Tinubu, Matawalle.

The North-west All Progressive Congress (APC) Unity and Reconciliation Forum has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Mattawale, for their efforts to address insecurity in the zone.

Its coordinator, Comrade Bello Muazu Sokoto, gave the commendation in a statement issued in Gusau on Friday.

Sokoto described the appointment of Bello Matawalle as “timely,” particularly with the recent successes recorded in the on-going fight against banditry in the North-west.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, being the Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has the right to delegate and give directive to any of his ministers to undertake any assignments on his behalf and such constitutional right was the reason that minister of state for defence and all service chiefs were recently sent on a mission to fight and defeat the bandits in the North-west zone,” the statement read in part.

He noted that criticisms against Matawalle on the mission to end banditry in the North-west were purely political, stressing that there “is an improvement in the fight against banditry in the North-west.”

He said the North-west APC forum had concluded arrangements for a one-day lecture and presentation of an award to President Tinubu and the minister for their outstanding performances and resilience in the fight against insecurity in the zone.

“We have made all necessary arrangements to honour our president Bola Ahmed Tinubu on 5th of October at the Arewa House, Kaduna, by God’s grace and present a letter to him on the 6th of October to show our appreciation for his exemplary leadership.”
