Barely two hours after the Nation apex court passed the Judgement that prohibits the 36 States governors to temper with the local government monthly allocations, the Zamfara State governor Dauda Lawal allegedly awarded the construction of a new Gusau ultra modern motor park to the tune of N6 Billion to be finance with the State 14 government Monthly allocation funds.
Multiple sources in Zamfara State Ministry for local government and Chieftaincy affairs confirmed to Zamfaranewsletters that, few hours after Supreme court passed the long awaited local government autonomy judgement, governor Dauda Lawal summon an emergency State executive council meeting where they backdated and approved the memo of N6b for the construction of Gusau Ultra motor park. The source further said that" The Ministry had already fixed a secret meeting this week in government House Gusau with the 14 local government caretakers to see how they will withdraw N6billion from local governments allocation of July 2014.
It was also learned that, out of the 14 Local government care takers only 7 of them were convinced by the State government to Sign the memo that was backdated 3 month ago to finance the emergency Gusau Ultra modern Motor park, while according to the report 5 caretaker administrators refused to sign the memo for the fear of EFCC and ICPC who are saddled with the responsibilities to monitor the 774 local governments expenditures.
One of the worried Zamfara State caretaker administrator who pleaded for his name to remain unknown confirmed that his local government recieved every month from the Federation allocation the sum of N500,000,000. But the Ministry for local government use to give him N10, 000,000, Out the funds for his monthly upkeep without knowing where the remaining balance goes to.
Recalled that the Supreme court of Nigeria has two days ago passed a favourable judgement which prohibits any State governor from diverting any Fund mean for local government, also the apex court in their judgement gave the Accountant General of the Federation AGF directive to henforth credit each local government with their monthly allocation direct into their respective LGAs Accounts .
