Earlier today, according to what our correspondent saw, many students were spotted protesting in the street against the current Zamfara state administration for not paying them their wages.
After more research, it was discovered that the students had spent months visiting different offices in an attempt to come to a
compromise with the officials and even the governor himself. They claimed that when they first met with the governor, he had assured them that everything would be resolved, but months later, there had been no progress made. While many felt that this was the students' fate, some of the children were heard saying, "We are tired of being manipulated and played with our houses are on fire in the states our parents are being killed daily and we are starving in school enough is enough."
After speaking with a 500-level MBBS student at Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Sokoto, he has the following to say, "We only ask for our allowances because we have been without them for more than a year. My siblings are hungry, I left my parents at home in fear of returning home because of the state's insurgency, and here I am in school trying to learn and make my society and state proud. In contrast to our Sokoto and Kebbi, who have never missed a payment because they heavily invest in their students education and watch out for them unlike here in Zamfara, we have no food, no security, and no consideration. As of right now, we say ENOUGH IS ENOUGHStop feeding us fake promises do the needful, " says the student who pleaded anonymity
It is crucial that the governor is made aware of the students' ongoing struggles for what they properly claim as their own, since they are prepared to spend the night on the streets in order to show the world how much they have sacrificed, suffered, and persevered.
